New funding opportunity for charities to receive a new, best practice website built using themes funded by the Transform Foundation.

As part of this programme:

  • Successful applicants will also receive a website strategy and design process to adapt the charity website theme to their needs.
  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
  • Your organisation will need to cover ongoing costs for a minimum of a 12-month commitment.

  • This programme is exclusively designed for charities, CICs and other non-profits with a social mission.
  • As a guideline, the programme is also principally designed for organisations with a minimum of £100,000 annual income.
  • Given the limited number of sites available, the programme is on an invite only basis according to a prescribed cause, size and geography.
  • Recipients must be charities, CICs or other non-profits with a social mission.

We provide a regular webinar hosted by our Chief Executive to help organisations decide whether or not the programme is right for them, which you are encouraged to attend after reading our website

Stage 1:

A simple online form to check you fit our criteria.

We expect this to take no more than 15 minutes for organisations to complete. This will be assessed by our Chief Executive. We endeavour to respond to each application within 1 month of applying, and will provide brief reasons if you are unsuccessful.

Stage 2:

A detailed online meeting with a technology consultant from our technology partner to assess the impact a new site could create and to review the technical fit. You will be provided with full documentation re-capping all details of the programme for your review.

Agreeing the contract: if you are successful we will send you the paperwork to review. There is no obligation to proceed if you are successful in the application. Your charity must make the ultimate decision on whether or not this is right for them.

  • We are seeking to support organisations that are looking to use their website as a marketing platform in order to achieve their charitable objectives, whether they be raising funds, recruiting volunteers or reaching beneficiaries. Therefore, this programme is best suited to organisations with specific objectives that benefit from advanced marketing and fundraising tools, rather than those just looking to use their site as a brochure.
  • We look to support organisations that are committed to making best use of their new website e.g. through updating content frequently. Therefore, we suggest you only apply if you can commit to someone in your organisation spending at least 2 hours a week managing the website.

  • We have selected Raising IT as our current partner for this programme. Raising IT have built websites for over 1000 charities, for whom they have raised millions of pounds.

What does the process of working with our website grant partner, Raising IT, look like?

You’ll work with a committed team of leading charity focused digital marketers, developers and designers to build an amazing web presence.

Step 1 - Setup:

You will be sent an email welcoming you to Raising IT and explaining the process. This will include exercises that you will need to work through with your team, which you will then share with us using Headstart, the intelligent online strategy tool:

These exercises cover 2 areas:

  • The first part includes some questions and prompts to help set the strategic building blocks of your site and help us assess your strategic approach. There is a lot of useful information about how to think about your charity from an audience perspective and how to create integration and engagement between your website, your content and what goals you are trying to achieve.
  • The second part will uncover the key information required to structure and build your new website. This includes details about your design, and look and feel and we will also request some of your brand assets at this point.

Step 2 - Creation:

Once we’ve received your responses and inputs, our Strategy and Design teams will set up, configure and design your new theme-based website. You will also be sent a write-up of our recommendations and reflections of your strategic outputs, along with a content management toolkit and the first draft of your sitemap to get you planning content. Your website will then be available to you to review under a temporary, test web address, and you will have the opportunity for final setup/design tweaks to the website

Step 3 - Adding content:

The site is then yours to take forward and populate with your content (based on our best practice content and SEO guides you will receive as part of your strategic outputs from our strategy team). You will also be given access to our platform training resources of recorded webinars and online Knowledge Base, as well as instructions on how to get in touch with our friendly Help Team.

Step 4 - Go live:

Once you are happy with your content, we’ll ensure you go live smoothly. We will do some final quality checks, ask for final details to set up your new payment partners, social media accounts and your domain name to ensure you don’t lose any important existing links. Our system will then do the rest and notify you when the site is officially and publicly live!

This whole process is designed so that you can move at your own pace, but we expect that most organisations will be able to go live in 6-8 weeks from start to finish.
