Legacy giving is an important source of funds to Charities and accounts for around a quarter of the total amount given to charities, in 2016 this topped £2.5bn (Smee & Ford, Legacy Foresight).  According to Charity Financials, Cancer Research UK received £169.1m through legacy giving in 2016, accounting for 38% of its fundraised income. But legacy giving is not just for the big established charities. Donors are increasingly giving to more charities than ever before, and we at Transform want to help more charities access and benefit from legacy donations.

To help provide insight into how to effectively attract legacy donations, the Transform Foundation present Richard Radcliffe (FInstF Cert) hosting a webinar to share with you best practises for generating legacy donations.

For 30 years Richard has specialised in legacies including being Executive Chairman of Smee & Ford where he started the UKs first dedicated legacy consultancy. He sold Smee & Ford 10 years ago and has since run his own consultancy.

He has met around 28,000 supporters and service users for over 600 charities to gain their perceptions of the charities they support. Richard has researched Will making and legacy giving traditions in over 30 countries.

He has helped develop strategies for many of the biggest charities in the UK/World as well as many very small ones!

Richard trains fundraisers, trustees/board members and other volunteers in “How to make the legacy ask”.

He has been Chair of the International Fundraising Congress and Institute of Fundraising Convention for four years. He has researched extensively on donor happiness and how older generations make decisions about financial issues.
